The touching campaign that René Houseman filmed for Huracán a few days before his death.

The footprint left by René Houseman in Argentine football, especially in Huracán, is gigantic. And the great Crazy was responsible for reaffirming that bond until a few days before his death on March 22nd. This Monday, the club from Parque de los Patricios published an emotional video on its official website to attract members, with the Crazy himself as the protagonist, who filmed it with a smile a few weeks earlier.

In the video, you can see the World Cup champion from Argentina in 1978 wearing the Huracán jersey and carrying the membership card. The campaign aims to bring fans of the Globo closer to the club, and what better way to do it than with one of their greatest idols.

But that's not all. On the club's website, they tell the background story of that video. "March 22nd. In Parque de los Patricios, everyone was preparing to release a video filmed with René Houseman at 11 in the morning. And as if the Crazy had orchestrated the last play of his work, unexpected changes occurred that delayed the release for a few minutes. A few minutes where the Crazy himself became more of a protagonist than in the video he had filmed happily and gratefully weeks earlier," says the publication.

"Around noon, a bomb fell in Parque de los Patricios. Not one: thousands, in the form of text messages that shattered the hearts of all Huracán fans. René was gone," it adds.

The commercial was going to be kept "out of respect," according to the club, but since an earlier version of the video leaked, the institution finally decided to make it public and launch the campaign called "fan of membership and bone."

Houseman, champion with Huracán in the 1973 Metropolitano and a fan of the Globo and Excursionistas, died on March 22nd at the age of 64. He had been battling tongue cancer for some time.
