Sportivo Belgrano defeats Estudiantes in the first leg of the Copa Argentina
Sportivo Belgrano defeated Estudiantes from Rio Cuarto 2-1 in the first leg of the Copa Argentina. Fernando Catube scored in the first half, and David Muller, with a magnificent shot in the second half, scored the goals for the "green" team, which could have won by a larger margin.
In the first half, the best chances were for Sportivo Belgrano. With crosses into the area and clear ball possession, the "green" team shook Peralta's goal in the early minutes of the game. It was only at the 25th minute that Fernando Catube made it 1-0 for Sportivo; the youngster from Monte Cristo captured a rebound in the small area after a header from Rodriguez and scored the first goal of the match. However, at 37 minutes, Nahuel Cainelli headed in the equalizer after a corner kick. Despite not having troubled Cosentino much, the "celeste" team leveled the game.
In the second half, Sportivo came out with the same intensity as in the first half, but gradually lost momentum. Giaccone took note and sent Juan Pablo Francia onto the field, and just 4 minutes later, David Muller scored a magnificent shot that found the top corner of Peralta's goal, making it 2-1 in favor of Sportivo Belgrano. Towards the end, Lamolla was sent off for Estudiantes, Sportivo could have sealed the game and traveled with a more comfortable advantage, but could not increase the lead and closed the match 2-1 in their favor.
The second leg will be played next Tuesday at 21:30 in Rio Cuarto, where it is expected that Pablo Aimar will play for Estudiantes. The match will be televised by TyC Sports.
