Diego Simeone, currently coaching Atlético de Madrid, is the main candidate to become the technical director of Chelsea in England for the next Premier League season in case the Italian Antonio Conte leaves, as reported today by the British press.
According to The Times newspaper, the London team considers Simeone, former coach of Racing, Estudiantes, and River Plate, as the ideal candidate to replace Conte if he goes to Paris Saint Germain in France or Inter in Italy.
However, there are some barriers to make Simeone's arrival in London happen, and one of them is that the Argentine coach has a contract with the Madrid team until 2020, so Chelsea would have to pay the termination of that agreement.
In case Simeone can't go to Chelsea, the British team would look for the Italian Maurizio Sarri, currently at Napoli, or his compatriot Massimiliano Allegri, current coach of Juventus.
Simeone has been at Atlético de Madrid since 2011 and has won, among other titles, the Spanish League in 2013/14 and the UEFA Europa League in 2011/12.
