America in Suspense about the Future of Silvio Romero

America is currently going through a period of transitions, with the arrival of reinforcements and possible departures from the squad. The team is in suspense, three days away from their debut in the Clausura 2018 against Queretaro. Argentine striker Silvio Romero is one of the players involved in whether or not he remains in Miguel Herrera's plans, as it is rumored that two teams in Argentina are interested in his services. For now, the player's present is in Mexico, waiting to see if there will be a formal offer to leave Club America.

River Plate was one of the clubs that showed interest in the Argentine player since his departure from Jaguares de Chiapas. However, there hasn't been anything clear so far, although coach Marcelo Gallardo views Romero favorably. In recent days, Independiente de Avellaneda has reportedly made an offer for him, with talks of it becoming a reality. However, the president of Independiente, Carlos Montaña, has put that possibility on hold due to the high cost of the player. It was reported that the proposal was for $4 million for 80% of his transfer rights, but the negotiation appeared too expensive for the team led by Ariel Holan.

For now, Silvio continues training with the Club America's first team, despite the alleged interests from other clubs. He admits to being unaware of these rumors and describes them as "speculation", as his present is still with Club America.

"I haven't talked to anyone, it's just rumors that have been circulating; I continue training with the team," Romero assured La Aficion, distancing himself from the speculations and following Miguel Herrera's instructions.

Silvio remains calm, as he considers that he had a good preseason to face the new objectives of Club America. He is currently not thinking about other possibilities, as he is "focused on the day-to-day with the team."

Since Miguel Herrera's arrival at Club America in the Apertura 2017, Romero has been liked by the coach. In various matches, the Cordoba-born player has been a key piece in the team led by "El Piojo". Despite this, Miguel and Silvio have not personally met to clarify their ideas for this new season. "I haven't talked to him, just general conversations we had," Romero stated.

Romero has played three tournaments with Club America, scoring 23 goals. In his first campaign, the player responded with 11 goals in 16 matches, a figure that excited the team as their main scorer. However, things changed over the course of the tournaments, as his goal effectiveness reduced to five goals in the last two league campaigns, three in the last tournament. These numbers seem to not please the team, as there has been criticism regarding his lack of goals in the previous season.

One of Romero's main goals is to "return to the form" that led him from Jaguares to Club America, where he was known for his goal-scoring ability, which he demonstrated in his first season, which he described as "quite good."

Silvio Romero is focused on the team, although the possibility of the forward leaving is not ruled out, in case a team comes forward with a formal offer before January 31, the day when all transfers in football close, or he could stay and fight for a starting spot in Miguel Herrera's team, depending on whether more reinforcements arrive in the next few days, which seems likely to bolster the team's forward line.
