Holstein Kiel vs Bayern Munich: GOOOOOOAL! It’s 3-0 thanks to an own goal!

Society has moved past the need for international breaks.

Society has moved past the need for international breaks.

13’ — GOOOOOOOOOOAL! It’s an own goal, but an own goal that was 99% created by Jamal Musiala.

6’ — GOOOOOOOOOAL! Harry Kane makes it 2-0!

1’ — GOOOOOOAL! Musiala scores from kickoff (practically).

Kickoff: We’re underway!

One hour until kickoff: We have lineups! Looks like João Palhinha gets his first official start at Bayern Munich, while Alphonso Davies and Michael Olise drop to the bench for Guerreiro and Coman. The rest of the XI is no surprise — the usual suspects are all in the lineup.

With the international break now over, Bayern Munich can get on with one of the busiest parts of any season — the September-October gauntlet. With league games ramping up and Champions League games coming into play, this is where a coach needs to prove their credentials.

Vincent Kompany has won all his games thus far. It’s a good start but there’s always the risk that the international break threw off the squad’s rhythm, and a team like Holstein Kiel (who were spared the need to send players for international duty) could pull off an upset at their home stadium.

Kompany will need to prevent that at all costs, while also keeping his best players — Harry Kane, Jamal Musiala, Joshua Kimmich, and the like — fresh for the upcoming UCL opener vs Dinamo Zagreb. This is the delicate balancing act any coach much master if they want to be successful in Munich.

It’s Bayern time.
