The departure of Julian Nagelsmann as the head coach of Bayern Munich has caused some surprise around the world. On the eve of facing the decisive stage of the Champions League and also in the final phase of the Bundesliga, he was dismissed from his position. To provide more details about what happened, Oliver Kahn and Hasan Salihamidzic came forward and explained the reason for this decision.
Oliver Kahn was the one who seemed the most serious about this measure and argued that everything is due to the irregular performance presented in the last few matches with the club. He also detailed that the team has weaknesses that cannot be revealed in every game.
"It all started a little last season with irregular performances. The team is always capable of standing out, but occasionally shows inexplicable weaknesses. We have strengthened the squad again and have one of the best squads in Europe. However, the continuity of performance has not really improved. We cannot be satisfied with the results and the performance in the second half of the season," he said at a press conference.
"We have the duty and responsibility to guarantee sporting success. We wonder why there are such big fluctuations in the team's performance. We have analyzed everything very closely," added the former club goalkeeper and also of the German national team.
Hasan Salihamidzic also gave details
Another of the executives also gave details about the decision and called it the best one: "We thought about it carefully and in our opinion we have made the best decision for Bayern. In March of last year, the team already had these irregular performances, also in September and recently we have only won 5 out of 10 Bundesliga matches," he said.
"It was a very difficult emotional decision. I saw Julian every day in the locker room, talking to him. When you have so much trust in a person, you work very well for him. It's a very difficult decision. The process started on Monday, after the disappointment of the Sunday match.
"What led to that. It didn't start before. We hadn't contacted anyone. It was difficult for him (Nagelsmann) to receive that decision. It wasn't our fault that it was known in the press before. We wanted to talk to him first," he added, making his position clear.
