He played for different clubs in Europe, such as PSV Eindhoven in the Netherlands, Schalke 04 in Germany, or Lokomotiv Moscow in Russia. In 2019, during an interview on the program "Al Ángulo", Jefferson Farfán was asked who he considers the best football player he has ever played with in his career. The 'Foquita' did not hesitate to point out that the most outstanding of all was Paolo Guerrero, whom he met when training in the lower divisions of Alianza Lima.

"Best player you have played with? Peruvian or international," the presenter asked. To which Farfán replied "Paolo Guerrero". At another point in the program, the former Schalke 04 player said that the 'Depredador' is the player he has understood the most on the field.

"I have played with Paolo since I was very young. In the lower divisions, in all the national teams. He is the player with whom I have always had the best understanding on the field," emphasized the outstanding Peruvian striker.

He even added that when they were young, they were not only teammates, but also friends off the field. "We used to train together. We would go to his house after training. I would spend the night at his house. We would always go to the beach together. We have many experiences," he revealed.

Jefferson Farfán also stated that another player he admired for his talent was the Spanish player Raúl Gonzáles. According to him, he is the best European footballer he has ever played with. Jefferson Farfán also revealed in the aforementioned interview that he received an offer to play for Bayern Munich in Germany. "The strongest proposal for me and the one I had in hand because I spoke to someone inside the club was Bayern Munich. It was after the goal I scored against Leverkusen. The next day I received the offer and it was concrete," he said.

Despite this, he decided to stay at the club he was already playing for (Schalke 04), since he had the support of the coach and the executives. "I was very happy at Schalke, the president and the coach loved me and didn't want me to leave. They put a 'padlock' on me and I signed for four years," he concluded.
