Claudio Pizarro to have Farewell Match in Germany

After more than two years since his retirement, Claudio Pizarro, one of the top scorers in the history of the Bundesliga, will finally have a farewell match in honor of his extensive career in German football. Werder Bremen announced the date for this match: September 24th.

The team announced the good news for the "Andean Bomber" through their website and social media. The match will be played at Weserstadion in Bremen, Germany, and the opponent will be another club with which "Pizza" feels identified: Bayern Munich.

His Career in Germany

Pizarro arrived in German lands in the 1999 season until 2020, excluding the 2007-2008 season when he took his football to the Premier League to defend the colors of Chelsea.

During his time in the Bundesliga, Pizarro wore the shirts of Werder Bremen, Bayern Munich, and Cologne, scoring 197 goals in 490 games played, numbers that were enough to position himself as the sixth all-time top scorer in German football.

Will there be Farewells in Alianza and the National Team?

The announcement of this match in Germany has once again sparked the debate about the possibility of Alianza Lima and/or the Peruvian National Team having the same gesture with Claudio Pizarro. In response, the former striker's father commented:

"Whether it's the FPF or Alianza Lima, they will have to decide if it's important for them to give Claudio a farewell or not. It will depend on them, and I believe Claudio would be happy with that," he said in an interview with RPP.
