Rafael Santos Borre, one of the Colombian soccer players who played in the Europa League, scored in the 2-3 win and qualification of Eintracht Frankfurt against Barcelona, dedicating the goal to Freddy. The former River Plate player pointed to his number 19 shirt, Rincón's emblematic number.
At the end of the match, in an interview with the official channels of the Europa League, Rafael Santos Borre spoke about his admiration for Freddy Rincon: "He passed away recently and it is very important for us, he left a great legacy. So I pointed to the number, I wanted to dedicate it to him."
Surprise at Camp Nou
Appealing to a game with a lot of deployment and counterattack, Eintracht Frankfurt found the first goal through a penalty by Filip Kostic (4'). Barcelona went out in search of the equalizer, but due to the spaces left in defense and passivity in marking, Rafael Santos Borre scored the 2-0 (36').
The match became more difficult for the home team with Kostic's double (67'). The azulgranas reduced the deficit with the goals from Busquets (90') and Depay (90+11'), but it was not enough for the draw or qualification with a 4-3 aggregate score. The azulgranas suffered another painful blow since the arrival of Xavi Hernandez.
The semi-final matchups of the Europa League will be between West Ham against Eintracht Frankfurt and Leipzig against Rangers. The first leg matches will be played on April 28 and the second leg on May 5.
