WAP Esports qualifies for international competition
After finishing in second place in the 2023 Apertura Tournament of the League Master Flow, the most important national competition of League of Legends, WAP Esports has been confirmed as one of the ten privileged teams that will compete internationally in the new leagues developed jointly by the Liga de Videojuegos Profesional and Riot Games.
In addition, the national tournaments of all countries have been concluded to make way for the new format of only two leagues, Regional South (sponsored by Flow) and Regional North, who will compete in 2024 for promotion to the Latin America League of Legends, as the highest continental level.
Although there will be no promotions or relegations from the LLA during 2023, this transition period will involve a prize of no less than $50,000 among the top teams of each of the two regions.
In the case of the Regional South League, the recently announced teams that will compete against the Rosario team every week will be: Globant Emerald Team, Undead, Ebro, Malvinas Gaming, and Primate as the Argentine seed; Furious Gaming, Eclipse Gaming, and Meta Gaming as representatives of Chile; and Spectacled Bears representing Peru.
Although the local team has not yet presented its new roster, the announcements of the departure of only two of its starting players, Chileans Neadz and Giankios, suggest that they have decided to maintain a core team for future commitments.
As for the Regional North League, it will be made up of teams from the leagues of Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean, Colombia, and Ecuador: Tomorrow Esports, Bandits Gaming, Descuydado Esports, Fuego, Janus Esports, Osaka, Peek Gaming, Pirate Dream, Saprissa Esports, and Waia Snikt.
With a start date set for early June, the teams are already preparing to face an international competition that will bring new challenges, opportunities, and sporting demands.
