It was not a surprise, as Nintendo confirmed that in the last quarter of 2022, from October to December, 8.22 million units were sold, a period that also coincides with the Christmas holidays. The information, which is official, includes the units of Nintendo Switch standard, OLED, and Lite.
Likewise, with these 122.55 million Switch units sold, Nintendo's hybrid surpasses other industry heavyweights such as PlayStation 4 (117.2 million) and Game Boy (118 million).

On the other hand, if we break down the total figure by regions, we see that America is the continent that bought the most Nintendo Switch. According to statistics, 47.66 million units have been traded throughout the region. Then, Europe follows with 31.71 million and Japan with 29.05 million. The rest of the world adds up to 14.15 million.
Now, what is left to surpass? The ranking is led by the PS2, the mythical PlayStation console. This machine has sold 155 million units. Then, very closely, is the Nintendo DS, which holds 154 million. The Switch closes the Top 3 with 122.55 million.
