Valve Corporation, an American company that develops Dota 2, confirmed that Peru will be the venue for the first official event of the video game in South America. It is also known that the presential event will take place at Arena 1 in Costa Verde.

This is the Lima Major 2023, which will feature the presence of "the teams that excel in the winter tour will advance to the Lima Major, organized by 4D Esports," according to the information released on the website www.dota2.com.

"Cheer on your favorite teams from around the world as they compete for crucial points in the DPC for coveted spots in the 3 main tournaments that are part of the road to The International," Valve added.

The event will take place from February 24 to March 5 and tickets will go on sale in phases starting from January 10. The organization will be in charge of 4D Sports, a production company that has already been in charge of similar tournaments in the region and in the narration of video game world championships.

The Dota 2 international season starts with the Winter Tour, which takes place from January 6 to February 3. The Division I teams from each region will seek to qualify for the Lima Major in Peru, the first major of the Dota 2 season and the first major to take place in South America.

The bottom two teams from Division I, in all regions, will be relegated to Division II, and the top two teams from Division II will advance to Division I in the Spring Tour, the second regional league of the 2023 DPC season.

Following the same tournament format and structure as the previous tour, the top-ranked teams from the Spring Tour will secure a spot for the Berlin Major, the second major of the year and the fourth Dota 2 Major to be held in Germany.

The Summer Tour will be the third regional league, and the teams that excel in this tour will advance to the Bali Major in Indonesia.
