During the Nintendo Direct, the video game company has only focused on announcing news about Splatoon 3. The official release date for this installment will be September 9th.

Splatoon is a third-person shooter game in which players use weapons that shoot paint or ink. This game, like its previous installments, will be exclusive to Nintendo Switch.
Splatoon 3 Free Trial
One of the big announcements is that Splatoon 3 will offer a free trial. This will start on August 27th at 10:00 a.m. (Spanish peninsula time) / 3:00 a.m. (Peruvian time). They haven't announced how long this trial will last.
This is not the first time that one of the games in this saga offers a free trial before its official release, as Splatoon 2 also had a free period of seven days.

The Return of Splatfest
Splatfest is the ultimate event in Splatoon. After a few years, it returns with this new installment but with new changes. Now there will be three teams (before there were two sides) and they will be presented by the characters Frye, Shiver, and Big Man.
This means that there will also be battles between three teams in the mode called Tricolor Turf War, which will alternate with 4 vs 4 Turf War battles.

Maps and Game Modes of Splatoon 3
Improvements in territorial battles have been another of Nintendo's announcements regarding Splatoon 3. Two teams of four members will be able to compete to paint the largest surface in two minutes. This classic mode has been added with new mechanics and the ability to remove ink.
In addition to this, there will be other game modes: solo, cooperative, customizable private battles, story mode ('the return of the mammaloids'), and more.

It has also been announced that there will be public and private battles, as well as a mode to watch replay of the battles.
The scenarios in Splatoon 3 have expanded. They have added the new region of Inklinglia, such as Crustacean Alley, Fumarole Gorge, Mero Junkyard, and Navajuela Reservoir. Likewise, players will be able to visit the new Flounder Market (a dock filled with street stalls). Some maps from the Cromopolis region like Mackerel Museum, Salmon Run Bridge, and Bacalao Cove Spa, will also be part of this title.
In total, for the game's launch, there will be 12 available stages, and more will be added in future updates.
The updates will be free and are scheduled to take place over the next two years after its release, until 2024.
