The video game industry continues to surprise with titles that must resort to different mechanics or a certain aesthetic to stand out from the rest. Such is the case of Hypercharge: Unboxed, a game that was released in April 2020; but has recently achieved the notoriety that so many developers desire.
A case like this is Among Us, which was released in 2018. However, it was not until 2020, during the quarantine, that it exploded in popularity and caused several restructurings within its studio (InnerSloth). It is how a canceled sequel became an update that we all currently enjoy.

About Hypercharge: Unboxed and its sudden popularity
Hypercharge -before July of this year- had a very small community, the kind that is gained through word of mouth between friends in a chat room or by Discord. Although they started attracting a lot of people with their proposal on Steam and Nintendo Switch, the numbers were not favorable for their developers once again.
The team at Digital Cybercherries, responsible for this game, devised a quite innovative plan: to treat their game as something new while announcing its arrival on Xbox and PlayStation consoles. At first, the plan doesn't sound very promising, but by doing so, they could gain a new wave of potential players, those who knew nothing about this game.
Thus, Hypercharge is announced on Twitter as a game that will arrive on Xbox at some point in the year. Their current strategy appeals to Xbox users, taking advantage of the brand's current popularity. Even a gameplay clip has gone viral this week, accumulating more than 14 million views.
The plan has worked for them and the most curious ones are already playing this title on Steam, Nintendo Switch, or even on the Epic Games Store.
