Twitch will remove its desktop 'app' for PC on April 30th [VIDEO]

"We have made the difficult decision to say goodbye to the Twitch desktop app," the company said in a statement on its website explaining how it is uninstalled.

The platform has added that the PC application will officially disappear on April 30. "This decision has not been taken lightly and has been the result of a combination of user feedback and usage," Twitch explained.

"This move allows us to invest more heavily in improving and adding new ways to connect with creators and communities," the platform adds. Twitch indicates that for those who are already accustomed to using its desktop app on PC, they have the Twitch.tv page available, which they can access from the browser.

Media outlets such as Digital Trends have reported that Twitch has communicated this decision to its users via email, as well as from its website.

The announcement from Twitch comes after the recent loss of some of its most popular streamers, such as Ludwig, DrLupo, TimTheTatman, and Valkyrae. In any case, the platform has recorded a 45% increase in its number of hours viewed in 2021, reaching 24 billion, according to StreamElements figures.
