Former champion Yazmín "Rusita" Rivas ready to face Nazly Maldonado
The Laguna champion, Yazmín "Rusita" Rivas, is ready and in weight to face Mexiquense Nazly Maldonado on Saturday night in a 10-round Bantamweight fight that will take place at Plaza de Toros Arroyo.
Yesterday Friday afternoon, the weigh-in ceremony took place at the Boxing Commission of Mexico City, where the Laguna fighter passed without complications, weighing 124 pounds (56.200 kilograms), the same weight as her rival, Mexiquense Nazly Maldonado, so everything is ready for the exchange of blows.
Rivas needs the victory to go for another 10-round fight and strive to be a world champion again.
The "Rusita" Rivas (35-10-1, 10 KOs) will face a brave Nazly in 10 grueling rounds.
In the undercard bout, in a rematch that will surely be explosive in the ring, former WBA Super Featherweight World Champion, Emmanuel "Pollo" López from Chiapas, will face Sonora prospect Jesús "Chinito" Quijada in a ten-round lightweight division fight.
"Pollo" López (22-6-1, 9 KOs) is campaigning for the world title in 2017 and Hermosillo's "Chinito" Quijada (17-3-1, 14 KOs) will try to seize the opportunity to face the former champion and get revenge.
López and Quijada faced each other in June 2014 in Tuxtla Gutiérrez, Chiapas, in an exciting fight, with the victory going to the Comitán-born fighter by a split decision.
In the third undercard fight, two boxers from Mexico City, César Soriano (6-1, 5 KOs) and José Andrés Peribán (5-3, 3 KOs), will face each other in a six-round lightweight bout.
Silvia "La Guerrerita" Torres (14-0, 5 KOs) will face Brenda Fernández from Mexico City (6-0, 2 KOs) in a six-round Light Flyweight fight. The boxing event is presented to the Mexiquense fans by the promotion company Zanfer.
