Georges St-Pierre Returns to UFC

Canadian fighter Georges St-Pierre (GSP) will return to UFC after more than three years of temporary retirement from mixed martial arts (MMA), reaching an agreement with the company.

UFC President Dana White confirmed the information this afternoon to the Los Angeles Times. "He's back, I'm excited. We've been working on this for a long time and it's finally done," he said.

Hours later, White wrote on his official Twitter account: "GSP is back."

In November 2013, Georges St-Pierre announced his temporary retirement from MMA after his controversial split decision victory over Johny Hendricks.

Regarding GSP's next opponent, White held that it could be the winner of the fight between welterweight champion of UFC, Tyron Woodley, and Stephen Thompson. The other alternative, he added, is Michael Bisping, the current middleweight champion.

"But right now, I have no idea when he's going to fight. We haven't scheduled anything and, literally, we haven't told anyone anything about it," added the UFC president.

In December 2007, Georges St-Pierre won the interim welterweight division belt and then, in April of the following year, defeated Matt Serra to unify the titles. After that victory, GSP successfully defended his championship nine times.
