MMA: Peruvian Gastón Bolaños to debut in Bellator this Saturday 18
Peruvian fighter Gastón Bolaños will make his debut this Saturday 18 against American Abner Pérez in the mixed martial arts (MMA) event Bellator 172.
The fight is scheduled for three rounds of five minutes in featherweight (65.77 kg). Both Bolaños and Pérez will have their first professional MMA fight.
According to the portal Sherdog, the American has participated in two amateur fights: in September 2013 he defeated Arron Hernández by technical knockout (TKO) in just 46 seconds, but last November he suffered a knockout (KO) in 31 seconds by the hands of Josh Dim.
Gastón Bolaños, 24, arrives at Bellator after a remarkable participation in the American muay thai company Lion Fight, where he obtained eight victories - seven by knockout - and only one defeat.
"I have a two-year contract with Bellator to compete in MMA and also in kickboxing. My next fight will be in kickboxing and I estimate it could be in April of this year," said the national athlete to DT El Comercio.
The Peruvian mentioned that in his corner will be Kirian Fitzgibbons, director of his school, Combat Sports Academy (CSA). He will be accompanied by Darren Uyenoyama, former UFC fighter, and Lance Palmer, current World Series of Fighting (WSOF) champion.
For his debut in MMA, Gastón Bolaños did a stage of his training with the Alpha Male team, to which the renowned former fighter Uriah Faber and Cody Garbrandt, UFC champion, belong.
In the main event of Bellator 172, to be held in California, Russian Fedor Emelianenko, considered one of the greatest fighters in the history of MMA, will face American Matt Mitrione in the heavyweight division.
In the co-main event, Josh Thompson will face Patricky Freire in the lightweight division. Additionally, former UFC fighter Josh Koscheck will debut against Mauricio Alonso in the welterweight category.
