Anderson Silva returns to victory in UFC 208
Anderson Silva finally managed to return to victory in the octagon this Saturday at the Barclays Center in New York, where he defeated Derek Brunson by unanimous decision in the co-main event of UFC 208.
As the minutes went by, Anderson Silva gained some confidence, which began to be reflected in his movements. Especially when he performed some capoeira moves that bewildered Brunson. However, the factor that was decisive for Anderson Silva's victory was precisely his takedown defense. The Brazilian fighter countered all of Brunson's attacks, which gave him a significant advantage on the judges' scorecards. "Maybe I'm a little old and not as fast as before, but when I enter this cage I realize that this is my life," said Anderson Silva after returning to victory in New York.
PREVIEW: Anderson Silva will face Derek Brunson this Saturday in one of the most anticipated fights of UFC 208, an event that will be held at the Barclays Center in New York and will feature Holly Holm vs. Germaine de Randamie as the main event. Despite being a living legend of the UFC, Anderson Silva is not living a good present in the company. Since fracturing his left leg facing Chris Weidman in December 2013, the 'Spider' has not tasted victory again.
At 41 years old, Anderson Silva's retirement is getting closer. That is why the Brazilian fighter will give everything this Saturday in an attempt to end his bad streak of five fights without a victory in the octagon.
But it is clear that this time Anderson Silva will not have an easy task. Although Derek Brunson lost to Robert Whittaker in his last fight, before that bout the American fighter had achieved four consecutive victories by knockout. Will the 'Spider' be able to recover?
