First training session of Real Madrid 2015-16 season

"Attack all and defend all." That was the first premise that the Madrid squad received yesterday in their first training session of the season. Rafa Benítez, along with the rest of his coaching staff, was attentive to the work his players were doing and gave instructions for the exercises. The coach wants to form a harmonious team where all players are involved and committed from the very beginning. That's why he was talking with everyone, although he was particularly active with Marcelo (who was renewed yesterday) and Pepe, who are expected to become two of the heavyweights in the dressing room after Casillas' departure and the possible exit of Sergio Ramos.

The players were called early in the morning (08:15) for the medical check-ups. They later stepped onto the field to complete the first training session. They were divided into three groups. One group consisted of Benzema, Varane, Bale, Marcelo, Ramos, and Pepe. Odegaard, Marcos Llorente, Yáñez, Abner, Jesé, Lucas Vázquez, and Lazo formed another group. And Isco, Carvajal, Kroos, Nacho, and Danilo formed the last group. They performed several sets of continuous running, always under the watchful eye of Paco de Miguel, the fitness coach. He monitored their performance through a GPS vest that each player was wearing. This GPS is a tracking performance suit that wirelessly connects to a receiver which captures the data on a computer. De Miguel himself is a pioneer in using this technology, which aims to improve each player's conditions. Benítez follows a very simple motto: "Work, work, and work." And yesterday, he got right to work...
