Manchester United offers two-year contract to Bastian Schweinsteiger
The English Manchester United has offered a two-year contract to Bastian Schweinsteiger, as reported by German newspaper "Bild", fueling speculation about an imminent sale of the midfielder from Bayern Munich.
The Manchester offer extends for two years with an annual salary of ten million euros (11.1 million dollars), added the newspaper without detailing sources. Various media outlets had been speculating that the captain of the German national team would leave Josep Guardiola's team this season.
The Chairman of the Executive Board of the club, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, categorically denied on Thursday a transfer of Schweinsteiger to United in exchange for the Argentine Angel Di María, and recalled that the World Cup champion has a contract in Munich "at least until June 30, 2016".
Schweinsteiger, 30, was supposed to rejoin training with the German champions tomorrow at the official team presentation, although Bild advances that he will not because the negotiations are more than advanced. The management plans to discuss the player's future in the coming days. The midfielder knows Manchester coach Louis Van Gaal well, as he coached him during his time at Bayern.
