Atlético Madrid and AS Mónaco have closed negotiations that sees Ferreira Carrasco move to the Spanish capital on a five year deal. The player arrived in Madrid today at 1430 on a private jet, accompanied by Atleti’s, Miguel Ángel Marín and went straight to the Vicente Calderón to put the final touches on the deal. Carrasco will be officially presented to the fans and media next Monday at their Majadahonda training complex.
The deal drew to a conclusion last night in Mónaco and Atleti made the signing official at 2000 this evening. The player’s signature is 20 million euro according to the French media but there is speculation that 15 million was paid but that Monaco stand to acquire 25% of any future sale of the player. The actual price for Carrasco is not yet official.
According to French sports daily, L’Equipe, Mónaco already have a substitute for Carrasco lined up. Ivan Cavaleiro, currently on the Benfica books and who played season in La Liga with Deportivo on a loan deal. His move from Lisbon to the south of France is reportedly 15 million euro and so is covered with the income from the Carrasco deal.
Carrasco (of Spanish/Portuguese origin) becomes the third Atleti signing of the pre-season so far. After Vietto, Jackson Martínez (who’s move will be made official next week), it’s the turn of Carrasco. The Belgian international will be charged with replacing Arda on the wing.
