Colombia will begin its journey in baseball at the 2015 Pan American Games on the diamond of the Pan American Baseball and Softball Center of Ajax President's Choice against the representative of Cuba, one of the top contenders for the gold.

Cristian Enrique Mendoza, a pitcher for the Tigres de Cartagena and a member of the national team, expressed that the championship will be highly demanding due to the good level of all seven countries.

"We are aware that the tournament is not easy, but we trained hard and we are mentally and physically well-prepared to defeat such solid teams like the one in the first match"

The championship system is a round robin. Each team plays six games during the first phase, and the top four teams in the overall standings advance to the semifinals.
