Anderson Silva to Return to the Octagon at UFC 208
The Brazilian Anderson Silva will return to fight in the UFC Octagon on February 11. The fight will be scheduled for three rounds in the middleweight division (83.9 kg) and his opponent will be the American Derek Brunson.
The 'Spider', 41 years old, is considered one of the greatest fighters in the history of mixed martial arts (MMA). However, he is currently on a negative streak, having lost four out of his last five fights in the UFC.
Brunson, 33 years old, comes into the fight against Anderson Silva after suffering a defeat against Robert Whittaker last November. However, he won his previous five fights.
In the main event of UFC 208, Holly Holm will face Germaine de Randamie for the women's bantamweight championship (65.77 kg). The event will take place in Brooklyn, New York.
That same night, the Brazilian Ronaldo 'Jacaré' Souza will fight Tim Boetsch in the middleweight division. 'Jacaré' is one of the top contenders for the title in the category, currently held by the Englishman Michael Bisping.
Anderson Silva was one of the most dominant champions in the division. Between 2006 and 2012, the Brazilian defended the title 10 times.
