La campeona mundial mexicana, Ibeth "La Roca" Zamora, compartió su historia de éxito con más de un centenar de jóvenes estudiantes de Torreón.

World Mexican champion, Ibeth "La Roca" Zamora, shared her success story with over a hundred young students from Torreón, present at La Jabonera Sports Complex.

There the champion started her social work and promotion of the fight she will star in next Saturday night at the Municipal Auditorium of this city, where she will defend her belt against Serbian Nina Stojanovic.

"La Roca" spoke about her personal and professional experiences that have made her the best pound-for-pound boxer in the world.

At the end of the practice, the world champion demonstrated her boxing skills in the ring, displaying her shadow boxing and pad work in a public training session that closed the meeting on a high note.

Since the beginning of her boxing career, the toughest part has been to climb the ladder in this challenging profession dominated mostly by the opposite sex.

She explained how difficult it was to overcome discriminatory treatment due to her indigenous origin, of which she is proud.

At 27 years old, Zamora shared the sacrifices she had to make to become a professional boxer and have the opportunity to compete for a world title abroad, one of her greatest achievements, she said.

Although she has not lost for four years, she has also experienced the bitter taste of defeat, motivating young people not to give up in the face of any setback.

The talk had a lot of participation from the attendees, with questions of all kinds and great willingness from the world champion.

"La Roca" said goodbye with a message in the Otomi dialect, where she asked the children and young people who were listening attentively never to give up on their dreams and to strive to be the best, as there are no impossibilities.

Pistón López ready to see action in this fight

As has been a constant throughout his career, local fighter José "Pistón" López will not have an easy night on Saturday, when he faces Japanese Shoki Sakai at the Municipal Auditorium of Torreón.

López has a professional record of 26 wins, 15 of them by knockout, 6 losses, and 2 draws.

López will have the opportunity to perform again at home, where he hasn't fought for 4 years. On that occasion, he defeated Juan Manuel Leal decisively. His only goal is to triumph at home again, regardless of the opponent, as is the case with Japanese fighter Sakai, an advanced student of Don Nacho Beristáin.
