Volkswagen presents the new California Camper T6
A couple of months ago, Volkswagen presented the sixth generation of one of its most iconic models, the Transporter. Now, directly derived from that T6, we see the light of the new California Camper T6.
It is a new step that is quite continuous, not standing out in terms of aesthetics (as it basically introduces the current design language of the brand in the California) but excels, as usual, in terms of livability and versatility of use.
The range is structured in three levels of finishes, which we will now detail, but all versions come standard with up to seven seats, two configurations for the rear rows, the possibility of turning the middle row to face the third row, and space for up to five people to sleep: two in a bed in the cabin, one on a sofa, and two more in the deployable roof.
That's the equipment of the Beach trim. The Coast is the intermediate level and features a configuration with only five seats, but in exchange it adds an aluminum kitchen with two burners and a 42-liter refrigerator. Finally, there's the Ocean, which adds double glazing on the windows, Climatronic, auxiliary heating, and an electro-hydraulic opening system for the roof.
In the mechanical section, there are only two gasoline engines available, the 149 and 204 hp TSI, but the diesel offer is broader, with various engines ranging from 82 to 204 hp of power. In addition, depending on the version, you can opt for the 4Motion all-wheel drive system and the DSG automatic transmission.
For now, only the prices of the California Camper T6 for Germany are known, where the base version is marketed for 41,430 euros.
