The Real Madrid goalkeeper will not be able to participate in the tournament due to an Achilles tendon injury in his left leg.
From his official website, he released some words dedicated to his national team colleagues.
"Whenever you are out of the national team, it is something sad. No one likes to be out. Being in the national team is a motivation, it is something very nice. There are colleagues who are qualified, who can do a great job, make a big effort, and know that it is an important tournament and that we can all win and do things very well," he said.
He also thanked the Costa Rican fans for all the help they have given to their footballers, especially last season when they played the qualifying matches for the World Cup in Brazil.
"Thank you very much for the support you have always given us. I will never forget the qualifiers for the previous World Cup. We do not forget that everyone, fans, journalists, and footballers had to do a great job," he said.
"We had to qualify for the World Cup and they gave us very important support. We want to move the team forward and make respect for Costa Rica grow in every country," he concluded.
