Fabian Cancellara announces his withdrawal from the Tour de France
The Swiss cyclist Fabian Cancellara, who was the leader in the general classification of the Tour, announced that he will not start tomorrow's stage due to the consequences of the fall he suffered in the third stage.
In a message on Twitter, the cyclist stated that he has fractures in his lumbar vertebrae similar to those he had last spring, which forced him to stop competing.
Cancellara, who started this morning from Antwerp wearing the yellow jersey for the twenty-ninth time in his career, was involved in a hard fall 60 kilometers from the finish line in Huy.
Although he was able to continue on his bike and rejoin the peloton, he was neutralized by the organizers due to a lack of ambulances to ensure safety, and he fell behind due to his injuries.
After undergoing examinations, he decided to abandon the competition.
