He arrived at the RFEF in 2008. After coaching the U-16 team, he has conquered the title in his first European Championship with the U-17 team.

With this, Spain adds three U17 European Championships, two runner-ups, and a third place. And it is one title away from matching Germany. Are we already among the great powers of the category?

It is not a coincidence. This means that we have a great breeding ground and that it is also growing. Hopefully, next year we will catch up with Germany.

What is behind this great breeding ground?

There is a great work, not only from the Federation, but also from the territorial associations and their teams, with U12, U16, and U18 teams. Thanks to this work, we can reach even the smallest town in Spain.

They got the group of death: England, Germany, and Iceland. Did you trust from the beginning to advance to the next round?

I fully trusted. From the beginning, we went all in and that was the mentality. England, Germany, and France were the favorites and we faced all three of them.

Was the match against France, drawing with two minutes left and winning on penalties, the key?

I'm not able to see a key moment. This team recovered from goals against, like against England, and always took the initiative. The feeling against France was that we were doing things right, based on chances and gameplay. They were dangerous because they had strong players. I had hope until the end to score, and we had practiced penalties...

What has surprised you the most about these girls?

Aside from the growth of the young players at this level, it's the emotions that the group has transmitted.

Has the desire for revenge from last year's finals lost in the European Championship and World Cup pushed them?

Those who were there last year came with hunger to continue and show that they could take it a step further. They have transmitted that experience to the young players.

As they advance in categories, Spain moves away from the great powers. What can be done to prevent it?

I trust that evolution will bring us to this level. The same thing happened with the boys. There was a time when they won everything in the lower categories, but couldn't advance past the quarterfinals. When the breeding ground is well worked, one day the results come.

Do you see any of these players in the Senior National Team in a few years?

Of course, I see many of them in the Senior National Team. If we work with these girls, it is with the conviction that they have a future.

With 32,000 licenses, this title is a miracle.

It is a miracle when it happens once, but when it repeats, it means that things are being done right and that we are maintaining that level.

Your debut in a final phase could not have been better.

I have been in the Federation for many years, since 2008. I didn't have a feeling of debut, but I am happy for the experience and I will never forget it.

Is part of the success based on that U16 team that took the first steps with you?

The U16 team started in 2010. At first, they were sporadic gatherings to control those coming from below. Then, with the development tournaments and friendlies, it has become another national team and here are the results.
