Roberto Bautista values the positive change in the captain of the Spanish Davis Cup team
Roberto Bautista valued this Saturday as positive the dismissal of Gala León as captain of the Spanish Davis Cup team and commented that "it's good to have a different captain."
"Things had not been done as they should. Hopefully now there will be a little more contact with the players, a little more personal connection," said Bautista after securing his place in the Wimbledon round of 16.
"Regarding the captain's work with the players, let's see if we can start doing things right. It's important for the team to come together a little more," he said.
Despite the recent changes in the Spanish Tennis Federation, whose president José Luis Escañuela has resigned, Bautista stated that he is still unlikely to participate in the upcoming tie against Russia.
"Not completely ruled out, but almost," said the tennis player. "I said I wouldn't play in the Davis Cup for sporting reasons, not for personal reasons with anyone," he clarified.
