Badgers nearing Top 10 in latest AP Top 25 poll

The Badgers continue to remain undefeated in conference play with another strong week.

Fresh off a 2-0 week with wins over the Ohio State Buckeyes and Northwestern Wildcats, the Wisconsin Badgers are climbing up the ranks once again in the AP Top 25, being named at No. 11 this week.

Standing at No. 11, the Badgers have consistently jumped up the AP Top 25, going from No. 21 to No. 15 and now No. 11 over the past three weeks while riding a six-game winning streak.

In their two wins this past week, the Badgers saw a different tune than their 80-point performances against the Iowa Hawkeyes and Nebraska Cornhuskers last week, as they played in slower-paced games against their two opponents.

Averaging over 1.2 points per possession in both victories, the Badgers beat Ohio State 71-60, holding Bruce Thornton and Roddy Gayle Jr. to 10/30 shooting, while beating Northwestern 71-63, capping the Wildcats at 42 percent from the field and 28 percent from three.

Wisconsin is one of three Big Ten teams in the AP Top 25, joining the No. 2 Purdue Boilermakers, who dropped a spot after losing to Nebraska, and the No. 14 Illinois Fighting Illini, who dropped four spots after a loss to Maryland at home.

Looking to continue their six-game winning streak, the Badgers will take to Penn State on the road on Tuesday before returning home for a weekend matchup against Indiana.

In addition to being ranked at No. 11 in the AP Top 25, the Badgers were listed at No. 11 in this week’s NET rankings and No. 9 in the KenPom rankings.
