We also talked about the possibility that the first defense of the new Champion would be in his hometown, Cleveland. All this information has become a reality.
The UFC has recently confirmed that Stipe Miocic will put his title on the line for the first time against The Reem at the UFC 203 event, which will take place in the city of Cleveland, Ohio on September 10th.

The Champion will make his first title defense after defeating Fabricio Werdum, with three consecutive victories, against important names in the division like Mark Hunt and Andrei Arlovski. The Croatian fighter will surely not lack motivation when he steps into the Octagon again.
The British-Dutch fighter will come with a streak of four consecutive victories. The most recent, against Andrei Arlovski. Among his last ten fights we see victories against big names like Brock Lesnar, Frank Mir, Roy Nelson, or Junior Dos Santos.
This will be the first time that both fighters face each other, so the unknown factor of not knowing each other will be an added attraction, especially since both are magnificent strikers.
