Dern comes to this fight needing a win to maintain her aspirations for the UFC strawweight title after her loss to China's Yan Xiaonan in her last fight. With a record of 12-3, the American fighter has won by submission on 7 occasions. Dern, who is ranked eighth in the strawweight division, will have to rely on her jiu-jitsu skills again to submit Hill.
On the other hand, Angela Hill, despite being ranked 14th, is one of the toughest and most dangerous fighters in the division. Hill will have to use her kicking and movement to avoid being taken down by Dern and exploit her Muay Thai skills to keep her chances of winning intact.
