The current coach of Serbia, Aleksandar Djordjevic (Belgrade, 1967), has been announced as the new coach of Panathinaikos in Athens, replacing Dusko Ivanovic.
The former Barcelona point guard, Real Madrid, and the Portland Trail Blazers of the NBA, among other teams, and a gold medalist in the 1998 World Cup, a silver medalist in 1996 Olympics, and a three-time European champion with Serbia and one with Partizan, will return to coaching a Euroleague club after his time with Armani Jeans in Milan a decade ago.
In Milan, he began his coaching career in January 2006, which continued with another Italian team, Benetton Treviso. On December 25, 2013, he was introduced as the new coach of Serbia, replacing Dusan Ivkovic. He led the team to the finals of the 2014 World Cup in Spain, in which they lost to United States with a score of 129-92.
