As they say in the United States, the story of Cinderella is over and Zack Ryder lost the Intercontinental Championship against The Miz in a match that also marked the return of Maryse Ouellet to WWE.
Originally, Ryder was not scheduled to defend his title tonight on Monday Night Raw, but he ended up falling into The Miz's games, who accused him of stealing his WrestleMania Moment by pushing him off the ladder in the final sequence of their match at WrestleMania 32.
Putting his childhood dream on the line, Ryder accepted the challenge and although he dominated most of the match, his end came when The Miz started arguing with the champion's father, who pushed him. The advantage that this would have brought to Ryder vanished when Maryse Ouellet, the former Divas Champion and wife of The Miz, jumped from the audience to defend her husband from the elderly man.
The distraction left Ryder at the mercy of the Skull Crushing Finale and put an end to his reign, which barely lasted a day.
What do you think?
