The American boxer Shane Mosley (49-9-1, 41 KO) will face the WBA Interim Welterweight Champion David Avanesyan (21-1-1, 11 KO) on May 28th at the Gila River Arena in Gendale, Arizona. Mosley expressed great confidence about this commitment.

The boxer nicknamed "Sugar" said on his official Twitter account that the fight will be free and will be televised by CBS Sports.

Mosley has won two consecutive victories in which he has looked impeccable in both, so he was allowed to fight for a championship. First he defeated veteran Ricardo Mayorga in a rematch on August 29, 2015 by knockout in the sixth round.
Then on December 17, 2015, he defeated Patrick López by technical knockout in the tenth round.
This will be the first fight in which the American will have the boxing legend Roberto "Hands of Stone" Durán in his corner.
The manager of the Russian boxer (Neil Marsh) said that he is very happy that his protege is facing the boxer nicknamed "Sugar". Marsh revealed that he has been working with Mosley's team for quite some time.
"I am very happy to have secured the fight against Shane Mosley and there are several promoters who didn't want to sign it but after watching him fight in Panama (against López) I had to give him the opportunity. We have been working on the contract for several months but Mosley has already signed it."
"We talked about the possibilities of the fight but since David is the one who has the interim title, Shane immediately showed a lot of interest in making the fight."
This opportunity for Mosley is a very important one as he will try to prove if he still has something left to become a world champion again. He has looked very good in his last fights but the opponents have not been of a very high caliber, which leaves many doubts about the American's ability in the ring.
