Adrien Broner accused of robbery, but his fight continues
Adrien Broner is a controversial man. Talkative, arrogant and sometimes rude. He has occasionally shown that he is kind and generous, like the time he gave a thousand dollars to a boy who was asking for money on the streets.
However, despite performing more noble actions than questionable ones, it is the latter that stick to his image, even though he doesn't want to present himself as a noble man, he has always been more ostentatious.
But one thing is to bluff and play gangster and another is truly being one.
There is a report that Broner behaved like a gangster with a man, whom he allegedly threatened with a firearm. Betting problems, they say.
However, neither he, nor his promoter, nor the TV channel that will broadcast his fight against Ashley Theophane have spoken up about it, and although in different media it is said that the fight is in danger, Premier Boxing claims that the fight is still on.
In matters of "he said, she said," it is difficult to find the truth, but the mere rumor of an action like this is already quite bad for a man who has a behavior like that of Broner.
WBA Statement
Adrien Broner (31-2, 23 KO), WBA super lightweight world champion, was charged with criminal assault and aggravated robbery by the justice of Cincinnati, TMZ sports reported.
The alleged events occurred in the early morning of January 21, after Broner lost a large amount of money gambling with another person. The alleged victim decided to leave with his winnings and, according to his statement, he was intercepted in an alley by the world champion, who gave him a severe beating.
TMZ reported that according to the court file, Broner "took a gun from his vehicle, approached the victim, demanded the money, and then hit him in the face with a closed fist for the second time, leaving the victim unconscious." The boxer allegedly took the money he had lost and left.
Broner had his next defense of the WBA 140-lb belt scheduled for April 1 against Ashley Theophane.
