Henry Cejudo is about to contest his first title fight against Demtrious Johnson on April 23rd for the UFC flyweight belt. So far, even though Johnson has sent word saying he is not impressed by what Cejudo does, that he still plans to beat him.
So, serious as he looks most of the time, if not all the occasions he speaks, he considers himself a good "trash talker", one of those who use insults to verbally confront his opponents in conferences. However, it is not something he likes to do in public and that's why he keeps his words and tries to make his best performance in the octagon.
"I don't like to talk too much, but to be honest, I come from the streets, from a certain ghetto in Phoenix. I am good at talking garbage," confessed Henry in an interview with Arizona media.
And this comes up as a topic because on several occasions, another flyweight fighter, Joseph Benavidez, has tried to tempt Henry by saying multiple insults that the Mexican-American has overlooked. Since Cejudo faced Formiga, Benavidez came forward to challenge Henry, even before it was known that the Olympic medalist would face the UFC flyweight champion.
"I have really tried to keep my composure, but I think (Benavidez) is being very disrespectful," commented Henry.
Although now it is clear that Cejudo only has the title fight against Johnson in mind, it is evident that in the future he plans or at least hopes for a clash with Joseph, whom he says there is a big difference between the kind of Benavidez and the kind of Cejudo.
"Right now, Demtrious Johnson has all my attention, I know I'm going to beat him (...) I also think I would have a good fight with Joseph Benavidez. I think his greatest virtue is the great heart he has, he's a tough human being. But technically, I don't think he is better, I'm faster, a better version of what he is. I'm faster and mentally stronger," Cejudo claimed.
He considers that he has never said anything bad about Joseph, but because of what he has said about him, Henry believes that once they face each other, it will be a personal fight.
"I never talk about the man, but when we face each other, it will be personal," Cejudo concluded.
