One of the main trainers of Tristar Gym, Firas Zahabi, spoke about the future of former UFC Welterweight World Champion, George St-Pierre, last Monday on The MMA Hour.
Zahabi commented in the interview:
"Personally, I believe, if you ask for my personal opinion, that he can't stay away. I think he will itch and do something spontaneous."
At one point during the interview, renowned journalist Ariel Helwani asked him to say yes or no, Zahabi replied:
"If I had to venture a guess, I would say yes. Without my comments being taken out of context, I would venture to say that GSP will return in 2016. Although, again, this is no guarantee. I'm not confirming anything, I just think he's motivated, he's in shape. I think just the thought of the fight excites him. That's all he needs."
Zahabi also highlighted during the interview that the possible opponent he faces could be one of the key factors in his decision.
"Any fight could happen. It depends on what motivates Georges. That's the only question. Georges has won many titles and many fights, there's nothing left for him to win. It won't be about money. There's nothing to gain from the fight except for fun, for pure pleasure. So if he finds something fun and pleasurable, and he's excited to do it, that's what will make him accept the challenge."
During the rest of the interview, he was also asked about champion Robbie Lawler as a possible opponent. However, Zahabi left the question of whether a title fight would be the best for him and something that could motivate him.
