Our boxing representative, Leodan Pezo, finished in third place in the 63.5 kg category at the XII South American Games Asuncion 2022. Peruvian representatives are standing out in various disciplines and obtaining gold, silver, and bronze medals.
Leodan Pezo was defeated by José Manuel Viafara Fori with a score of 5-0. The Colombian achieved the following scores against the Peruvian: 30-27, 30-27, 30-26, 30-27, 30-26.
Peruvian boxer Leodan reached the semifinals after defeating Colin Andrew Lewins in the quarterfinals.
Leodan defeated his opponent with a score of 3-2, with highly competitive numbers: 30-27, 27-30, 30-27, 28-29, 30-26.
The Peruvian delegation continues to compete in the South American Games Asuncion 2022, and on Monday there were positive developments for the medal count, not only in boxing but also in shooting. Asier Cilloniz had an outstanding performance in the men's Olympic trap shooting discipline and won the gold medal, while Alessandro de Souza Ferreira won the silver medal.
In total, the Peruvian delegation has won 18 medals in the South American Games taking place in Paraguay.
Peru won 3 gold medals and one silver medal in shooting. The national team also stood out in Taekwondo with five medals, including two gold, one silver, and two bronze medals.
In karate, they won one gold, one silver, and two bronze medals. Another discipline in which Peru excelled was shooting with three medals, one for each position.
In fencing, one gold medal was obtained, as well as in skateboarding, which also won the top prize.
