Unsurprisingly, the game in Zagreb is offering plus money (+130) for Under 2.5 goals but worth noting is how many first-leg ties in the previous qualifying round ended either goalless or 1-0.

Dynamo Kyiv vs Fenerbahce
It goes without saying that this has been an incredibly difficult time for the Ukrainian champions with, amidst the horrors, no domestic soccer taking place. Instead, they have embarked on a ‘Stop the War, Play for Peace’ international tour for the last few months.

Kyiv’s most recent game on this tour was last Friday when they narrowly lost 2-1 to Royal Antwerp in Brussels – a scoreline that suggests they have remained match fit and competitive.

Fenerbahce finished second in last season’s Super Lig but have been in fine pre-season form, winning five from five, under new coach Jorge Jesus. This game will take place in Lodz, Poland – Kyiv’s temporary home – with the winners over two legs going through to face Austria’s Sturm Graz in the next round. There’s value here in the draw.
Pick: Dynamo Kyiv and Fenerbahce to draw (+225)
FK Qarabag vs FC Zurich
Qarabag, the winners of last season’s Azerbaijan Premier League, have had a tricky pre-season but found some wonderful form to overturn a 1-0 first leg deficit against Lech Poznan in the last round. An outstanding 5-1 win on home soil will have given them a massive confidence boost ahead of this tie, and their home fans will be looking for more of the same today.

Zurich’s league campaign is already up and running but their 4-0 home defeat by Young Boys on opening day was far from ideal preparation for this game. Prior to their defeat in Bern, they had won three of their four preseason games and looked in decent shape.

With Qarabag in great form, at home and still at even money, for me, they hold the value in this tie.
Pick: FC Qarabag to win (+100)
Ferencvaros vs Slovan Bratislava
Ferencvaros start this one as big odds-on favorites, but this will be closer than the bookies are suggesting. The Hungarian champions qualified for this by hammering Tobol 5-1 over two legs in the first qualifying round and look well prepared, winning three of their last four games, and will be hoping to emulate last season’s feat of reaching the group stages of this competition.

The Slovakian champions, Bratislava, had a tricky task in the last round but eventually managed to find a way past Georgian champions Dinamo Batumi – winning 2-1 on aggregate after extra-time in the second leg. They opened their domestic campaign at the weekend with defeat and have won just once in their last five.

However, while I expect the Hungarians to edge this, the Slokakians have some experienced campaigners in their team and will look to still be in the tie for their home leg.
Pick: Ferencvaros to win 2-1 (+900)
