Vincent J. McMahon Award for Excellence Legacy
In the opening segment of tonight's Monday Night Raw, February 22nd, the first Vincent J. McMahon Award for Excellence Legacy was presented, with Stephanie McMahon as the first honoree.
The existence of this award was announced last week and from the beginning, it was promoted as the most prestigious accolade ever given by WWE. So much so that it was said that nobody had been deemed worthy of this honor until now, which generated widespread speculation.
The award honors the memory of Vincent J. McMahon, father of Vince McMahon and one of the greatest promoters in the history of American wrestling, dominating with Capitol Wrestling Corporation (later World Wide Wrestling Federation) during the territory era, between the 1950s and 1970s.
The award ceremony was not sweet for Stephanie, as it was interrupted by the unexpected return of her brother, Shane McMahon, who accused her of sinking the company with low ratings and injured stars. Shane also claimed his place in the McMahon succession line and demanded control of WWE Raw, which took Stephanie out of the equation while the situation is resolved at WrestleMania 32.
What do you think? Do you think the recognition is deserved?
