CMB Statement

Exactly one week before disputing the super bantamweight world title of the World Boxing Council and as ordered by the regulations of the green and gold organization, champion Julio "Pollito" Ceja and challenger Hugo "Cuatito" Ruiz underwent the mandatory pre-weighing in order to prevent excessive dehydration and risks to the boxers' health.

The youngest of the Ceja Pedraza brothers, reigning super bantamweight champion, underwent the procedure in his hometown of Atizapán in the State of Mexico, where he registered an exact weight of kilograms, being declared fit to defend the 122-pound world title on February 27 at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California.

"Cuatito," the sixth-ranked boxer within the 55.300-kilogram division, stopped the scale at exactly 58.000 kilograms, within the limit of 58.201 kg, which is equivalent to five percent of the category's limit; the mochitense fulfilled the requirement in Code Jalisco, where he is preparing for this fight.

Ruíz and "Pollito" will be starring in another high-level and well-matched duel, where no expert dares to give their prediction, as both have similar characteristics in the ring, in addition to the guarantee of a spectacle that there always is when two Mexicans are locked between the sixteen ropes, especially when the universal belt of the World Boxing Council is at stake.

The evening, which will be broadcast nationwide on the "Saturdays de Box" Televisa Deportes channel in a joint effort with Promociones del Pueblo, has committed to bringing the best of boxing to Mexican fans, even when the big events are outside our borders.

The card is headlined by undefeated Leo "Terremoto" Santacruz, who faces the former Spanish world champion Kiko Martínez, in addition to the participation of the top-ranked contender, undefeated mexiquense Rey Vargas in the undercard of the evening.
