30th Anniversary of Air Jordan Brand

On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the birth of the Air Jordan brand, Michael Jordan visited Paris, where he gave an exclusive interview to the sports newspaper 'L'Équipe'. In it, he talked about his main goal: to win a championship as the owner of a franchise (in this case the Charlotte Hornets). But the big headline he left is that he still sees himself capable of "destroying" the players of the wasps in a one-on-one.

Changes in 30 years:

"The evolution in these last 30 years has been incredible, not only in terms of basketball but also in terms of business. The relationship between Nike and Jordan keeps growing, in a great marriage that I have enjoyed and will continue. And regarding the game... it's hard to say. From the fans' point of view, basketball is very entertaining, the players are much more athletic... But the important thing is that it is fun."

His goal as an owner:

"One of the reasons why I am still connected to basketball is to win another championship, I want to win a ring as an owner. It is much more difficult to do it than when I was playing, I no longer have any influence on the game since I am retired. But I work every day to achieve that goal. I don't do this to get rich, but because I love basketball."

Player or team owner?

"The most complicated thing is being an owner. When I played, I controlled things, now as an owner I have no say in what happens on the court."

His concern, the draft:

"Now I only have the upcoming draft on my mind."

His relationship with the Hornets players:

"I watch them play, I am already too old to train with them. I advise them whenever they ask for it. I am very confident that I could beat them one-on-one, but I don't want to destroy their confidence. So I keep my distance, I let them think they are good... but anyway, I am too old (laughs)"

Charlotte's appeal:

"It doesn't really help that I am with the Hornets. That doesn't make players want to come. It doesn't work like that."

Comparisons between the greatest:

"It's something normal, but you can't compare eras or different generations of players who were in them. I never had the opportunity to face LeBron."
