Fray Tormenta: The Inspirational Story of a Mexican Wrestling Legend
Mexican wrestling has one of its great idols in 'Fray Tormenta'. His life story is worthy of a Hollywood movie, and it became a reality in 2006 with the film 'Nacho Libre'.
Sergio Gutierrez, the true name of the wrestler and friar, was born in Hidalgo in 1945. He had a difficult childhood with 16 siblings until he found an opportunity for life in religion by joining the Order of the Piarist Schools.

As a friar, he helped many children he nicknamed 'cachorros' and it was the death of one of the children that led him to want to become a priest and later found an orphanage in the State of Mexico. The orphanage started accepting more children to the point where there wasn't enough food to feed them.
Thus, the idea of putting on a mask and stepping into the ring came when he saw the movie 'El señor tormenta', in which the protagonist was a wrestler who helped an orphanage. This was the birth of Fray Tormenta, one of the great idols of Mexican wrestling.
