Iván Zamorano has been one of the special guests
in several matches of the current Copa America, where Chile is in the semifinals.
In fact, the former Chilean striker has not only watched matches of our national team, but has also visited other cities like Viña del Mar for the match between Argentina and Jamaica, where both national and foreign fans took turns to greet Bam Bam and also take pictures with the Chilean idol.
"The most important thing was that my children and my wife enjoyed the match. We see (Lionel) Messi on television every week and now we have the great opportunity to have him in our country. We also enjoyed a wonderful stadium. Viña del Mar now has a great venue, you can see the game from all corners," Zamorano said to AS Chile.
"Chileans are very grateful that the Copa America is being played here and for having these figures in our country: Messi, (Carlos) Tevez, Di María, Neymar, Alexis (Sánchez). It is a great opportunity for our children, who admire all these players, to fully enjoy them," he added.
-With the campaign that has been carried out, do you think that La Roja is the main candidate for the title?
-I believe that the team has gradually shown the determination it wants to demonstrate in the Copa America. Little by little, the players are adapting to what (Jorge) Sampaoli wants. We are ready to play against anyone. Chile is prepared to beat anyone.
-Your family supported Argentina against Jamaica, what could happen in your house if Chile has to face Argentina in the final?
-If the final is Chile against Argentina, Chile comes first, of course. Even my wife wants Chile to be the champion. She has been here for 20 years and our children were born here. So we want Chile to be the champion and if unfortunately Argentina becomes the champion, we would also be happy.
-Do you see the national team with concrete chances of winning the championship, beyond what can be speculated?
-Chile has many possibilities of becoming the champion. The team has managed the results according to the difficulties it has encountered in the matches. This national team, because of the players it has, because of the coach and, above all, because we are in our country, is ready for anything. We maintain faith and hope alive to become champions.
