The boxer Robert Guerrero (33-4-1, 18 KO) was defeated by Danny García (32-0, 18 KO) on January 23 by unanimous decision, a fight in which the Welterweight World Championship was at stake. The judges' scorecards were 116-112, 116-112, and 116-112.
Guerrero thinks he was robbed of the fight and also said he wants a rematch.
"I want a rematch, that's it. Not a single person believes García won, only his team. I pressured him, I dominated him, and I hit his body very hard. I had a very good advantage in jabs. I believed I won the fight. The audience believed I won the fight. It was a great fight. I'm happy and healthy. I will come back and definitely want the rematch."
The father and trainer of the boxer nicknamed "Ghost," Rubén Guerrero, also expressed his discontent with the decision and demanded a rematch.
"I know we won. He (García) was running and holding on. How can you win a fight when you run and hold on all the time? We wanted to win every round and we won every round. I want the rematch. That was not fair. I want the rematch as soon as possible."
García gave a good fight since he hadn't done the work he did when he made his last defense of the Super Lightweight Championship. If a rematch happens, it won't happen immediately as the champion has to make a mandatory defense against Amir Khan.
Khan vs. García will be a rematch. The first time they faced each other was on July 14, 2012. García won the fight by technical knockout in the fourth round in a unification bout for the Super Lightweight title.
The American had the WBC Super Lightweight World Championship and by being the winner, he added the (Super) WBA Super Lightweight World Championship.
