A new era begins today

From now on, it is known as the era after Mayweather in the welterweight division, at least for the belt endorsed by the World Boxing Council.

A few days ago we showed you the preview of what would happen between Danny Garcia and Robert Guerrero, a fight from which the heir of "Money" would come out, the heir to the title, the rest is another story.

Well, the war of words had already been waged by Ruben Guerrero and Angel Garcia (fathers of Robert and Danny respectively) and the matter heated up because it is known that these men do not hold back when it comes to talking and advocating for their sons.

But the fighters would have to step into the ring alone to demonstrate who the next champion was.

Well, the actions developed dynamically. Although Garcia is more methodical and usually takes his fights from a slower pace to a faster one, he was pressured by a Guerrero who always goes all out because it is not his custom to speculate.

Garcia practically played the role of a bullfighter because he had to dodge the attacks that Guerrero sent his way, translated into punches to the face and a lot of pressure to corner the Philadelphian and try to get the result.

The last two rounds were very intense because both fighters threw everything they had left. Guerrero finished the eleventh round strong by landing several good punches to Garcia's face, but at the end of the round, Garcia found his salvation (it is difficult to determine if he would have been knocked down by those punches).

The twelfth round was pure exchange, step by step but always with powerful punches. They ended up engaged in the exchange almost against the ropes. Then the bell for the end of the round and the fight rang. Despite the risk of not separating, the referee stepped in and separated them.

Then the almost traditional effusive hug (from all boxing and MMA posters) ended the battle to make room for the judges' decision.

116 to 112, all in favor of the winner, the new champion and still undefeated Danny Garcia, who dedicated the victory to his baby.
