World Middleweight Champion OMB Billy Joe Saunders (23-0, 12 KO) said he is willing to face World Middleweight Champion FIB, OIB, WBA (Super) and CMB (Interim) Gennady Golovkin (34-0, 31 KO) if the offer is increased or if the fight is in England.
‘‘If I take the fight against Golovkin and I actually think I can beat him, but they have to put a good amount of money on the table and if they do then I accept. But if they don't, I won't wait because I can make money elsewhere. They have to pay me more than what they are offering me for a rematch against Chris Eubank Jr.”
The rematch against Eubank Jr. started to be mentioned since Saunder defeated Andy Lee by majority decision on December 19, 2015 and thus became the new World Middleweight Champion OMB.
The first time Saunders defeated Eubank Jr. was by split decision on November 29, 2014.
According to Dan Rafael, Golovkin's adviser, Tom Loeffler already has a date and venue reserved for "GGG" for April 23. The venue is the Forum in Inglewood, California.
With @GGGBoxing slated to fight April 23, @TomLoeffler1 also has The Forum in LA on hold as a possible site. #boxing #bigdramashow #goodboy

On the other hand, the English boxer spoke again about why he thinks he should be paid a lot of money and about his reign.
”It's true that they made me an offer, but they don't understand that I don't have a simple defeat on my record and I'm not like Golovkin's last opponent, David Lemieux, who had already lost twice before facing him. Now that I am a world champion, I have several options to make money elsewhere.
"But definitely the fight against Golovkin will be mandatory at some point in my career.”
Saunders' options are somewhat limited because he is not a globally recognized boxer. If he fights a little more in the United States, he could have more big fights there. He is young, good, and has many skills in the ring. But the advantage that favors him the most is that he possesses a World Championship.
