Results of UFC 195 Preliminary Fights
These were the results of the preliminary fights of UFC 195, an event that took place on Saturday, January 2nd in Las Vegas, Nevada. The main event, Lawler vs Condit, was commented here.
Michael McDonald (17-3-0) vs Masanori Kanehara (25-13-5)
It was of no use for Kanehara to control the first round and part of the second, McDonald only needed 10 seconds and a mistake by Kanehara to finish a fight in which he had absorbed 77 strikes, 2 takedowns, and a submission attempt, and had only landed 6 strikes on his opponent. I guess we can call this luck.
Kyle Noke (22-8-1) vs Alex Morono (12-3-0)
Kyle Noke quickly imposed his style, showing Morono's level, who didn't hesitate to throw punches without aim, hoping that one would reach Noke. He demonstrated many resources, which showed a talent for improvisation that was really good. Something that impressed me about the fight and is rarely seen in the UFC, when a fighter is taken down and falls in a disadvantaged position, they start to receive strikes. In this case, it was the opposite, Alex Morono, despite being in a disadvantaged position, managed to surpass Kyle in the number of strikes landed. Truly an incredible fight, with Morono winning by decision of the judges.
Justine Kish (5-0-0) vs Nina Ansaroff (6-5-0)
Incredible debut by the undefeated Justine, although she didn't completely control the fight, she managed to win decisively by unanimous decision.
Scott Holtzman (8-1-0) vs Drew Dober (16-7-0, 1NC)
This fight was a very even exchange of blows. Dober managed to maintain his rhythm and withstand Holtzman's punches, reaching the end of the fight with a slight advantage, securing the victory by decision of the judges.

Dustin Poirier (19-4-0) vs Joseph Duffy (14-2-0)
A fight as we all expected, a constant exchange of blows. Poirier realized that Duffy had a pace he wouldn't be able to keep up with, and during the second round, Poirier gained an advantage in terms of points by taking Duffy down and punishing him. However, during the third round, Duffy managed to take control, but the judges determined that the third round was for Poirier, giving him the victory by unanimous decision.
Joe Soto (15-5-0) vs Michinori Tanaka (11-1-0)
Remember these names, Chris Lee and Tony Weeks, two judges in the UFC who seemed not to be very attentive to the fight, especially in the third round, where Soto demonstrated more resilience, more octagon control, and a brutal difference in strikes, with Soto landing 61 strikes compared to Tanaka's 32. Another aggravating factor is how Soto used each takedown attempt by Tanaka to attempt a submission. Tanaka had 3 takedowns while Soto had 4 submission attempts. The truth is that the judges managed to be the third fighter in the octagon on this occasion.
Sheldon Westcott (10-3-1) vs Edgar Garcia (14-5-0)
A very quick fight, Sheldon took Edgar down and fell on him like a ton of bricks. The referee tried to give the fight a chance to continue, but it was already finished. Sheldon managed to defeat Edgar by t.k.o.
